The Heritage at Lowman hosts third annual "Fall into Volunteering" event
October 6, 2011 (White Rock) Baby boomers, retirees and people of all ages who are looking for flexible, meaningful volunteer opportunities are invited to attend the third annual "Fall into Volunteering" event, a free volunteer fair, on Thursday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Heritage at Lowman Retirement Community, 2101 Dutch Fork Road, in Chapin, SC 29036. Representatives from 14 nonprofit organizations will be on hand to talk about their volunteer programs and benefits. Some of groups seeking volunteers include American Red Cross, Babcock Center, BeWell Home Services, Habitat for Humanity, Harvest Hope, Lexington County Guardian ad Litem, Lexington Medical Center, Lt. Lt. Governor's Office on Aging Announces Grant Award to the Heritage at Lowman of Chapin
July 5, 2011 (Columbia, S.C.) The Lt. Governor's Office on Aging announced today that the Heritage at Lowman is the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the South Carolina Alzheimer's Resource Coordination Center (ARCC) to expand their Alzheimer's education program.

"The Heritage at Lowman has demonstrated a commitment to the Alzheimer's community in Chapin by easing the financial and emotional hardships associated with caring for an individual with this disease," said Lt. Governor Ard."Through support from this grant, the Heritage at Lowman will expand an education program providing support and strengthening the ability of families and caregivers to care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders." Learn more...

The Heritage at Lowman Offers Free Moving 101 Seminar

Yetter Named Executive Director
November 18, 2010 (White Rock) Melissa Yetter has over 17 years experience as an Administrator in long term care. 
She has been with Lutheran Homes of South Carolina for over eight years having first served as Administrator of Rosecrest in Inman, SC. She later developed and operated BeWell Home Services.
 
In 2009, Lutheran Homes of SC asked Melissa to be Interim Administrator of the Heritage at Lowman's Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She truly enjoyed the position and fell in love with the community. As a result, she offered to assume the position on a permanent basis and was subsequently named full-time Administrator. She held that position until her recent selection as Executive Director. Read more...  
 

Lutheran Homes Hosts 3rd Annual Wii Bowling Tournament
May 18, 2010 (Columbia) Seven teams from the Lutheran Homes of South Carolina retirement communities competed to win the coveted honor of 'Wii Bowling Champions' at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Columbia.  Active seniors from across the state donned their wrist straps and used their remote controllers in a frame-by-frame virtual battle for the champion title.  The teams represented residents from each of the Lutheran Homes communities -- Franke at Seaside (Mt. Pleasant), the Heritage at Lowman (White Rock), Rice Home (Columbia), RoseCrest (Inman), and Trinity on Laurens (Aiken)Click here to see coverage of the event from WLTX TV.

Nursing Assistant Named State Finalist
May, 2010 (White Rock) The residents and staff of the Heritage at Lowman Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center are pleased to announce that Debra Bonnette, certified nursing assistant was selected to represent the state of South Carolina in the 2009 Nursing Assistant of the Year Scholarship Program.  The annual award is sponsored by Resource Systems and American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators and recognizes excellence in care giving. 

Ms. Bonnette was chosen as a State Finalist out of hundreds of nominees due to her "exceptional dedication, ability to care for residents, and desire to help her coworkers." She became a certified nursing assistant in 2005 and joined the team at the Heritage at Lowman in 2006, where she is well known for her professionalism and positive attitude.  Read more...
