Sundays at Lowman Concert Series
The tradition of Sunday afternoon concerts at the Heritage at Lowman was established in 2003 by John Kenneth Adams, a well-known pianist and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the University of South Carolina School of Music. Thanks to his vision, leadership and the standard of excellence he established, residents of the Heritage at Lowman and members of the surrounding community have enjoyed outstanding musical programs. All of the concerts will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoons in the New Life Chapel located in the Wellness Center on the Heritage at Lowman campus and will be followed by a reception in the adjacent Hoefler Gallery. The concerts are free and open to the public with a reservation.

September 11, 2011 Jacob Will, bass Sharon Rattray, piano Jacob Will made his New York Philharmonic debut as bass soloist in the American Premiere of the Messa per Rossini, a performance televised live nationwide. An experienced concert artist, Mr. Will has been featured with symphony orchestras throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Equally at home on stage, Mr. Will has sung frequently with the Zürich Opera, the New York City Opera, the Vancouver Opera, the Bavarian State Opera and the San Francisco Opera. Currently, Mr. Will is Associate Professor of Voice at the University of South Carolina. He will be accompanied by pianist Sharon Hudson Rattray. An accomplished and versatile musician who studied under John Adams at the University of South Carolina, Mrs. Rattray is in great demand as a performer, accompanist, and organist. October 16, 2011 Christopher Nash, organ
Christopher Nash, a lifelong Lutheran, originally from Greenwood, SC began organ and piano study at a very young age. He has been inspired by all genres of organ music including theater organ, secular organ, and traditional organ. His style is very eclectic and reflects these various aspects of organ playing. He has played a number of concerts in the southeast, including several concerts that introduced the pipe organ to over 2000 children. Christopher studied organ performance at University of South Carolina with Dr. William Bates. He served as music director and organist at several churches for over 15 years. He "retired" as a church musician earlier this year in order to travel on the weekends, however Christopher often plays on Sundays as a guest organist for churches in the area. A member of the Columbia American Guild of Organists, Christopher serves as the Public Relations chairman for the 2013 convention being held in Columbia. November 13, 2011 Constance Gee, viola Charles Fugo, piano
Constance Whitman Gee is viola professor at the University of South Carolina, where she maintains an active viola studio, coordinates string chamber music and is Director of the Community Music School. She has performed extensively across the US and Europe as an orchestral and chamber musician and soloist. An avid supporter of New Music, she has collaborated with such composers as Luciano Berio, Luis Andriessen, Henry Brant, David Jaffe, and others and has premiered several works written expressly for her. She holds degrees from the Yale School of Music, California Institute of the Arts and the University of Maryland. Accompanying her on the piano will be Dr. Charles Fugo, Professor of Music at the University of South Carolina. He has played collaborative recitals at New York City's Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and performed extensively throughout the Southeast in ensembles, as accompanist and as a solo artist. December 11, 2011 John Kenneth Adams, piano
A noted performer of French piano music, John Kenneth Adams has performed the complete piano music of Claude Debussy in cycle, as well as important works by Fauré, d'Indy, Ravel, Chausson, Poulenc and Satie. His debut in London brought him instant recognition as a important artist in the French tradition. He is a graduate of Yale School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, London. January 15, 2012 Elisa Moskovitz, piano
Elisa Moskovitz earned B.M.E. and M.M. degrees from Winthrop College and the D.M.A. from The University of South Carolina, studying piano with Charles Fugo. Moskovitz has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, accompanist, and orchestral soloist, most recently performing Liszt's Concerto No. 1 with the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra. She is pianist of The Southern Arts Trio and has appeared regularly in ensemble performances. She was a finalist in the SCMTA competition, and twice the alternate for the SC Arts Commission Fellowship Award in music performance. Ms. Moskovitz has appeared on SC Public Radio and Peachtree State Public Radio broadcasts. She is currently Organist/Music Director at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Coordinator of Music of the Tri-District Arts Consortium, and teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina. February 19, 2012 Laury Christie, soprano Charles Fugo, piano David Vaughan, presenter
Laury Christie's musical career bridges the US and European opera theaters and concert halls. She has performed innumerable operatic roles, recitals and concerts with orchestras including the Boston, Chicago, Charleston, South Carolina Philharmonic and Milwaukee Symphonies. As a member of the music faculty at the USC, Ms. Christie was an active performing artist and master class teacher regionally, nationally and internationally. Upon her retirement in 2004, she was awarded the title Distinguished Emerita Professor of Music. Charles Fugo, pianist and Professor of Music at the USC, will accompany Ms. Christie. Dr. Fugo has performed extensively throughout the Southeast in ensembles, as accompanist and as a solo artist. Joining them for this special concert of Celtic music will be David Vaughan, sharing stories of Irish mythology, song and the bodhran. A graduate of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, his ministry includes serving parishes, counseling in state mental health centers, and working with the Department of Juvenile Justice. March 18, 2012 Agnes Wan, piano
A native of Hong Kong, pianist Ho Yan Agnes Wan holds a Bachelor of Music degree with honors in piano performance from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, master's degrees in piano and music therapy from Loyola University New Orleans, the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa, and the Artist Diploma in Piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Dr. Wan has been an award recipient at numerous international competitions, performed solo at Carnegie Hall, and gave a successful recital debut at Merkin Concert Hall in New York in 2007. In recent years, she has given full-length solo recitals in more than ten states.
