Active Lifestyle Informational Sessions

Details:  The Active Lifestyle Community has expanded over the last few years with a wide variety of wellness programs being offered in addition to several great garden home choices and apartment options.  Find out more about these exciting developments and how living at the Heritage at Lowman is an affordable retirement investment!  All sessions start at 9:30 am and include a presentation, followed by a campus tour and complimentary lunch in our new Bistro style restaurant. Please contact Elizabeth Beutel at outreach@theheritageatlowman.org or 451-7411 to make reservations.  Additional presentation times are available.  Personalized visits or private group sessions can also be scheduled.

Cardio Fit at 11:00 a.m.
Improve your cardiovascular fitness with this energetic class.This class includes three segments:cardiovascular workout, strength training, and stretching.

Conductorcise at 1:00 p.m.
Developed by Maestro David Dworkin, this session allows you to become one with classical music selections while getting a good cardiovascular workout.

Brainbuilders at 1:30 p.m.
This group session includes exercises to stimulate your mind including games, puzzles, and more.

Senior Explorers Trip to Lake Jocassee
Date:  Monday July 12
Time:  8:00 a.m.
Location:  Leaving from the Wellness Center
Details:  We will be heading to Lake Jocassee where we will put in at Remote Landing and paddle to Double Spring Mountain, Thompson Branch, Wright Creek Falls and Cave, then return via Fisher Knob and Devils Fork inlet. Book Club “A Prayer for Owen Meany”
Date:  Thursday July 22
Time:  10:00 a.m.
Location:  Private Dining Room
Details:  This month’s book is “A Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving.  Cindy Honeycutt will be our guest facilitator for the discussion of this book.  We will also be watching the movie “Simon Birch” which is based on this novel.  Date for the movie is Saturday July 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Boliek Community Room.  For additional information, please call Mary Bendziewicz at 803-451-7420.

Active Lifestyle Trip to Augusta Museums
Date:  Thursday July 29
Time:  9:00 a.m.
Location:  Leaving from the Wellness Center
Details:  We will be heading to Augusta, Ga to visit the August History Museum.  This museum holds all types of memorabilia from historic people and events in Augusta.  Next we will head to the river to enjoy a delicious Dutch treat lunch, and then to the Morris Art Museum for a tour of their collections.   Admission for each of the museums is $3/person.  Call Mary Bendziewicz for additional information, or to reserve your spot on the bus 803-451-7420.

Lake Murray Chamber Players to Perform
Date:  Thursday, August 5
Time:  7:00 pm
Location:  New Life Chapel in the Wellness Center
Details:  The Lake Murray Chamber Players is an ensemble of about 15 musicians that perform as an outreach arm of the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra.  Composed of volunteer musicians from throughout the Midlands, the LMCP is dedicated to the goal of bringing music into the community.  The evening’s performance will include Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Mendelssohn's Octet, and Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.  Light refreshments will be served in the Hoefler Gallery following this complimentary event.

Centennial Concert Series: Thomas J. White, Hymn Festival
Date: Sunday, August 15

Location:  New Life Chapel in the Wellness Center, 2101 Dutch Fork Rd, White Rock, SC
Details: Thomas J. White presents a Hymn Festival that will carry us through the church seasons in song.  Appointed Cantor of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in August 2009, he has served as director of music, choir director and organist for various Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregations in the Carolinas for almost twenty years.  Mr. White, a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, is an active composer, lecturer, conductor and improviser.  A reception follows the concert.  Reservations required: (803) 732-8800.
