About Us

Senior living is changing. After nearly 100 years, the Heritage at Lowman, continues to evolve and set standards for full service retirement living. Located in White Rock, South Carolina, the Heritage is just minutes from the vibrant capital city of Columbia and neighboring Midlands area communities. Our 200-acre campus is plentiful with green spaces and century old trees, meandering walking paths and a picturesque pond.

With innovative wellness-based programming, as well as residential and healthcare options already in place—our reputation for quality precedes us. As a non-profit ministry of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, our strong foundation allows significant investment into our community. The Heritage at Lowman is redefining what it means to live in a continuing care retirement community.

History
It all began in 1911 when Melissa Rauch Lowman, after the sudden death of her husband, gave her 950+ acre farm and other property to the Lutheran Church with the stipulation that a home be established to provide for her and her three dependent adult children. Since that time, the Lowman’s ministry has grown and continued to provide a continuum of residential and healthcare services to meet the changing needs of thousands of older adults.

Simply put, the Heritage at Lowman supports successful aging and inspires total wellness of the body, mind and soul. Every aspect of our community is geared towards empowering you to live life fully with this intention—to be well.
